General Questions
What is remote online notarization (RON)?
Remote online notarization allows documents to be notarized electronically through a secure video session. You and the notary meet online, verify your identity, and complete the notarization in real time—all in compliance with Virginia law.
Who can use your services?
Anyone 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID can use remote online notarization, as long as the document is eligible under Virginia law.
Where can I be located during the session?
You can be located anywhere in the U.S. or internationally. The notarization is legally performed under Virginia law, where the notary is commissioned.
Are sessions conducted in English or Spanish?
All sessions are conducted in English. Signers must be able to communicate clearly and understand the document being notarized.
How will I receive my session link?
Once your document has been submitted, you will receive a separate email with your secure session link prior to your appointment.
Identification & Requirements
What identification do I need?
You must present a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport). The name on your ID must match your document.

You’ll need:
- A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer)
